I used to travel a lot in my early thirties on work. Early morning flights were the order of the day. This called for waking up early without troubling my dear ones in deep sleep. Silently getting out of the bed and tiptoeing into the hall ensured that they weren’t disturbed.
All I had, before leaving home, was a cup of piping hot chai. The low frill airlines never served breakfast and those who served gave inadequate ones filled with empty calories and caffeine. Born into a middle class family and having inculcated the value of money, I could never buy the high priced meals available at the airport. After landing at the destination airport, it was always a rush to catch the first meeting on time. Time for a stop at the restaurant was never slotted. What did all these led to – Missed breakfasts. At that age, I never realised the impact this would have on my health.
I slogged it out to climb the corporate ladder burning my health. Entering forties, my body pushed back. Had no option but to listen. A change of role got me back to my hobby – badminton. I started playing two hours in the morning. Came back home with enough time in the world to enjoy my breakfast. My loving wife served me variety everyday.
Life moved on and my consulting business grew, pushing my limits again. But I was not ready to give up badminton. By then I was already travelling with my son, playing at the state and national level. This motivated me to register for higher level tournaments in my age category. My body wanted more of nutrition. My son’s diet plan was ready. I started modifying the same to suit my requirement. I was learning a new trade – nutrition.
Competitive badminton asked for intense training too. I used to reach home late with not enough time for getting ready, eating breakfast and heading for meetings. Again my elaborate breakfast went missing. I was grabbing slices of breads and running into my car to satisfy hunger. I knew what I was missing. Compensated with large mugs of coffee and cookies during meetings. I knew I was screwing it up again.
By then my wife had started preparing a well balanced and nutritionally complete breakfast for my son, who also returned from his work out sessions with not time enough to have breakfast before he got into the school bus. He could drink this in couple of minutes. He also loved the taste. It was combination of Nutrition, Taste and Convenience.
It was a Eureka moment for me – 100% nutritionally complete breakfast which I could drink while dealing my morning hustle. I started drinking my breakfast. Though my wife prepared it daily, she wasn’t sure whether this would help me sustain my energy levels till lunch. It did. It was filling too. I could stay without hunger pangs till lunch time. She added taste to it by giving us different flavours made with seasonal fruits. She also topped it with protein powder to take care of our extra protein requirement. It worked well for me.
I am on it for the last five years. I enjoy my Drinkin’ Breakfast thoroughly. Never do I miss my breakfast – No added sugars, no added colours, no added preservatives. 100% natural – made with real ingredients. How can it get better
